About Central Maryland Ecumenical Council
The Central Maryland Ecumenical Council, Inc (CMEC) was incorporated as the Maryland Churches United (MCU) in 1972. The name was changed to CMEC in 1988. MCU grew out of the Maryland Council of Churches, established in 1937, which in turn was the child of the Baltimore Federation of Churches in 1919! We are affiliated with the National Council of Churches of Christ, USA.
Denominations and congregations in the Central Maryland Area as well as the adjacent counties on the western shore are welcomed as members.
